Already a huge US hit, Motorola Milestone (aka Droid across the pond) sold out in less than three hours during its initial UK launch.
This innovative device was voted TIME's top gadget 2009, and is more mini computer than mobile phone thanks to the Cortex A8 processor, 256 MB ram and hugely expandable memory.
The Android 2.0 operating system, aka Éclair, comes with a full suite of Google services, tweaks and enhancements. These include a more accurate virtual keyboard, built-in camera flash support and an improved Google Maps app with added layers.
Milestone's 3.7 inch WVGA display delivers an incredibly rich mobile web browsing experience. Users can go online via HSPA-enhanced 3G or WiFi and view entire web pages in vivid detail on the 400,000 pixel, high resolution screen.
The multi-window Google web browser supports flash 10 content; so the whole web is now open for mobile access. One-touch home screen shortcuts can be used to launch a Google search or access Android market.
Motorola Milestone is currently the slimmest slider phone on the market to have a full QWERTY keyboard. The best-in-class hardware has a D-pad and space bar to make typing easier, and is spread across four rows for comfort. There are also two virtual keyboards for people who prefer to work on-screen.
Staying in touch is simple - users can star their favourite contacts to see live updates on the home screen. There's also a nifty smart messaging app (multiple push email client) that delivers every email to one central inbox, and a threaded SMS client that displays text message conversations.
Milestone supports over-the-air syncing with Microsoft Exchange calendars, email accounts and contacts. The contact list app can sync with Gmail and Facebook, then pull across info, updates and images.
Integrated Assisted-GPS and Google Maps software will help users to find their way while out and about. The addition of MOTONAV means that it is now possible to get spoken turn-by-turn directions from your mobile phone while on foot.
Other notable features include a 5 Megapixel camera, DVD quality video recorder and Crystal Talk™ technology for clearer phone calls. The handset ships with an 8GB memory card included in the box.
Impressive inside and out, Motorola Milestone is packed with pioneering mobile technology. It signals a return to form for the global communications leader, and is an all-in-one solution for tech-savvy consumers.
