A multitude of mobile phones from the manufacturer that created the first handset running Google Android has been leaked. Taiwan-based HTC's 2009 line-up has been well and truly revealed, as seven new devices were leaked onto the internet. Photographs showing images of the new devices were released onto the web and are rapidly appearing on mobile news blogs and websites. Although not much is known about the new HTC designs, there are distinctive differences between some handsets regarding what markets they will be aimed at - with devices such as the Whitestone W and the Firestone being intended for high-range markets. The Firestone will be HTC's first 8 megapixel camera phone, meaning the manufacturer will catch up with rival mobile firms like Samsung and Sony Ericsson. The HTC Thoth is an updated version of older model Athena and will run on a Qualcomm 8250 processor at a mighty 1000 megahertz. This device will also run the latest version of Windows Mobile - 6.5 Alongside these devices are four other models, three of which boast a full QWERTY keyboard. The HTC Maple is expected for a May release and offers a 2 megapixel camera, 2.4 inch QVGA screen and Windows Mobile 6.1. The Twin is a dual CDMA/GSM device expected to be released in July, which offers a VGA screen and 3.2 megapixel camera. The sleek silver and blue Cedar W is similar to the Maple, but is for CDMA networks. Finally, the HTC Tungsten has escaped having too much revealed about it, though it is a slider phone in the style of the T-Mobile G1, and is expected to accompany the Maple in its May release. |
