Flagging mobile firm Motorola is hoping to beef up its sales with the help of a full touchscreen device - which was leaked through the internet yesterday. Similar in looks to handsets such as Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Omnia, Motorola's new device is set to raise the bar in terms of functionality and features, including a 5 megapixel Kodak camera with flash and TV out.

Rumours are also abuzz that the device will be Motorola's first mobile phone equipped with Google's Android operating system, the platform that many manufacturers revealed their enthusiasm to include in upcoming products at last week's Mobile World Congress. Pictures of the as yet unnamed device show that it also appears to have a front-facing camera for video calls.

Additionally, the phone will include the expected capabilities for voice calls, text messages and emails. It is not yet known what connectivity features the touchscreen will possess, though 3G is likely. The new handset was surprisingly not featured at Mobile World Congress, which took place in Barcelona last week much to the delight of many mobile phone fans.

However, with the volume of mobile handsets presenting themselves at the event, as well as the announcement of Nokia's App Store and other software-related innovations, it was perhaps wiser for Motorola to wait until the excitement to die down before unleashing their most powerful attack on the mobile market.

If successful, a phone toting full touchscreen capabilities alongside Google's Andoid platform could prove a smash within the market and help Motorola to rise back up through the ranks to a position alongside the likes of Apple and BlackBerry makers Research in Motion.
