Nokia N97

One of Nokia's most eagerly anticipated handsets, the N97 has been well worth the wait. It is the flagship device in the Finnish firm's Nseries range and feels more like a mini computer than a mobile phone.

Based around slide and tilt functionality, the 640 x 360 pixel display rises up to sit over a full QWERTY keyboard that makes typing messages easier.

There's a touch screen too, so all it takes to get access to programmes and applications is a few swipes of your finger.

The homescreen is cleverly designed with five customisable shortcut widgets. More widgets and applications can be downloaded from Nokia's Ovi™ store, including shortcuts that take you straight to your favourite social networks.

Get close to the action with a 5 Megapixel camera featuring advanced Carl Zeiss lens, auto-focus, Dual LED flash and up to 14x digital zoom. Use the Ovi Share™ portal to store photos and the front facing camera for video calls.

The N97's camera also has a video recording mode that lets you make mini movies. There's plenty of room for creations on the 32GB internal memory. Ovi Maps takes navigation to the next level; see your location and the surrounding area in 3D, plus add to your favourite social networking site and let people know where you are. With automatic updates you will always find your way around town. (Free with unlimited data package).

Browse the internet with either 3G or a WiFi connection and make use of the widescreen to peruse web pages or watch video in Flash and Java. If your tariff doesn't include an internet bundle you can add an *unlimited data plan to your basket at checkout. Plans start at just £5 a month. **

Gamers can download cool titles through the Nokia N-Gage system and use the touch screen or side buttons to play.
